First Family Trip
Hello every one!
This is me Scribbler [penname] welcome to my blog.
It's been a long time waiting for our next blog. Now here it is.
This time I brought my family trip to God's own land, Kerala.
The actual tour was supposed to go somewhere else, but due to budget
constraints I changed the plan. The plan was prepared in a very short period of
time and arranged all the necessary materials for the entire 5 day drive.
The tour starts early in the morning with God's prayer songs playing on
the FM and a cool breeze blowing inside the car. Starting early, we halted at
Palakkad for breakfast. From there to Alappuzha boat house.
On arrival we were greeted by the book-in team and escorted to the boat jetty. Ours was a 1BR houseboat booked for one day - 12:00pm to 9:00am (next day) including three meal courses. We embarked on a journey till 6:00 PM and anchored our boat to rest for the night. It was my first cruise (sailing on the water all day) and I got sick and felt really bad that night. Luckily the cat and mice (mom and dad) gel well and entertain themselves with comedy, singing and dancing. I am somewhat relieved by this. The next day after breakfast (on the way to the boat jetty) we disembarked from the boat and proceeded to our next destination.
Next destination is a small hidden island (surrounded by backwaters) in Kerala - Munroe Island. I was given a special cottage (single cottage in the middle of the water) when I booked and the check-in time was 3:00 pm so we had plenty of time to reach the place, so we went to the Krishna temple in Ambalapuzha and had brunch. At the restaurant – burgers, sandwiches, mocktails, shakes, etc. On my arrival I was given different cottages (three cottages next to each other and in the middle of the water) and the check-in time seems to be 12:00pm. There we had a small fight over the room adjustments and finally settled for room rent and breakfast only without paying extra (a good deal for me). That same day we went canoeing for 2 hours (actually 3 hours for us) and we ordered dinner so when we got back directly, we got into our dinner and finished our dinner. We were tired from the journey from Alappuzha to Kollam and the relentless rowing, so we thought we would sleep early.
The next day we left the place before our check-out time and spent 30 minutes to Poovar beach. Standing in front of the waves beckoning me to go in, my mom pulls me back (both struggling for me to keep up with them 😊 lol). Then next to Kanyakumari by car – on the way went to Susindram, the temple was closed as it was not in the program – after reaching the hotel it was only 30 min left for boat ride, so we hurriedly dropped all the luggage in the room and freshened up. Boat ride to Vivekananda Memorial Rock (Thiruvalluvar statue was being renovated). From there to the sunset viewpoint, the day was overcast so I couldn't spot the sunset, had a nice dinner at the street vendors and returned to the hotel.
The next morning at 4:00 am we went up to the terrace to watch the sunrise (yes, curious) but due to cloud cover (definitely rainy season) we didn't see anything. After getting ready and having breakfast, I left for Tirunelveli - Nellaiappar Temple. The temple was huge (vast, sculptural works) and I was drawn to it and didn't feel like coming out of it, I was forced to come out as it was noon when they had to close the temple.
Had a super duper Saravana Bhavan filter coffee outside the temple and went to the Madurai Meenakshi Amman temple. The queue to enter the temple was huge. The special darshan ticket had
the same size queue, however we ended up waiting for the darshan. Nothing was
seen in the temple as we ran without time to return home. On the way back home, we
stopped at the lucky Moideen Biriyani Hotel for a non-vegetarian dinner. I
started back home with great difficulty, stopped for tea and coffee break in
between and went straight home.
Yes, this is my tour story, which I made very short here.
Conclusion: Hope you travelled with us in the reading and sight seen in
photos.
Stay tuned for my next scribbling!!
Humble thanks to you all from a scribbler 😊
